Women of WW1 Workshop

Lesson: History

Class: Year 4 Year: 2019 - 2020

To mark Armistice Day this year, Year 4, 5 and 6 took part in a Women of the War workshop in school. The workshop followed a young woman on her journey through the long war years of 1914-1918. She explained how women's lives changed dramatically during the course of the war and described some of the jobs undertaken by women at the time. The children learned about munition workers, the Land Army and nursing on the western front. The children enjoyed using replica equipment and role-play to really bring the history to life.
