Welcome to our Reception Class. 

In our class we try to make the transition from pre-school into school a smooth and happy one. We provide opportunities both indoor and outdoor for children to explore their surroundings, become self-aware and we also encourage the children to gain skills and knowledge to become confident learners. We intially focus on the personal,social and emotional development and the children's communiction and language skills as we believe they are vital to set a good foundation for the children's future learning. 

This half term our research project is 'All About Me'.

As we move through the year you will receive lots of information from school to explain what themes we are covering and what the children are learning in school. Our ‘Research Themes’ for this year are listed below and we will be doing lots of exciting activities to explore them. 

One of our aim's is for children to love reading. The phonics programme that we follow is Read, Write Inc. You will receive information about how we teach the children to read, including website links that will help with learning to read at home. If you have any questions at all about your child's reading please get in touch.

Reading books will be changed every Friday. Please try to read at home at least three times a week and ensure that reading books and reading diaries are in your child's bag everyday, so that they can also be heard reading in school.

Our class Christian Value is Friendship and thisvalue will be explored throughout the year. 

Our PE session is a Wednesday afternoon. Please can the children come to school dressed in thier PE kit.
