By this everyone will know

Welcome to Year 4

Our class Christian value is Trust.

In Year 4 we strive to be the very best we can be and we try our hardest in everything we do. We aim to have as much fun as possible whilst learning many new things, as well as building on previous learning.  It is also my goal to ensure that the children are happy within school and that they are well-prepared for the new challenges they will face as they progress into the Upper Juniors.

Feel free to browse our class page to find out more information about what we study in Year 4.

I thank you for your continued support.

Useful Information

PE

Our PE day this term is Friday. Children should come to school in their school PE kit on this day.

Wider Opportunities

Wider Opportunities Brass lessons take place each Tuesday.  Your child needs to take their instrument home to practise each week but must have it in school on Tuesdays as the children work on new skills and music during these lessons.

Reading

It is important that the children are reading their reading books daily and completing their reading records each time they read. They need to bring both their reading book and reading record every day.

Spellings

We teach whole class spelling sessions using the Spelling Shed programme; these are based around a particular spelling pattern. The children will have a list of words linked to this pattern to practise at home; Spelling Frame supports this. We will have a weekly quiz on Fridays.

Times Tables

By the end of Year 4, every child should know their multiplication tables upto 12 x 12. We use www.timestables.co.uk to support children and help them to learn in an engaging way. These will then be consolidated during maths lessons. It is vital that children practise their times tables regularly at home.
