Eco Warriors
At St Luke's we are proud to have a fantastic Eco Warriors team. We have two representatives from each class who meet with Mrs Richardson half termly to discuss how well our Eco team are doing at school. The children come up with some really good ideas and this gives the children the opportunity to suggest changes, alongside new ideas that can be implemented in school.
As a team we have a litter patrol, gardening club and classroom monitors. A certificate is given in Celebration assembly every Friday to the class who remembers to recycle and turn off lights and equipment the most.
Last year we successfully collected empty crisp packets for recycling and we recycled our milk bottle lids ensuring that they were used for projects around school.

Our Eco Warriors met recently, with children from Year 2 to Year 6 coming together to share their ideas and plans for the year ahead. It was fantastic to hear so many creative suggestions, and the children are excited to make a positive difference around our school.
This year, our Eco Warriors will be working on some exciting recycling projects:
- Recycling tin foil – encouraging everyone to collect and recycle used tin foil from snack and packed lunches.
- Recycling biscuit packets – finding ways to recycle our biscuit packets and reduce waste (there will be a box in the hall for collection).
- Creating garden ornaments – using plastic from around school, such as milk bottles, to create colourful garden ornaments for our Forest School.
We will also be hosting a Christmas Recycling Assembly, where we will share ideas about how we can recycle and reduce waste during the festive season.
Looking further ahead, we are excited to hold an Eco Day in the Spring Term, with lots of fun activities to help everyone learn more about looking after our planet.
We are very proud of our Eco Warriors and look forward to seeing their fantastic ideas come to life throughout the year! 🌱♻️
